Product Story & Description
The Name & Cultural Meaning:
"Shi Piao" is one of the most classic and revered shapes in Yixing teapots, known for its stable, pyramid-like geometry that symbolizes strength, grounding, and resilience. "Chai Shao" refers to the ancient wood-firing technique. In Chinese pottery, wood-firing is not just about burning wood; it is a profound dialogue between humans and the kiln, a harmonious dance of fire and earth. It represents the ultimate pursuit of natural, rustic beauty.
Design & Craftsmanship:
This 150ml teapot is masterfully handcrafted from premium Duanni clay. Unlike conventional modern firing, it embraces a daring modern wood-firing philosophy where the teapot is placed in the kiln without a protective cover (sagger). This allows the flying wood ash and untamed flames to interact directly with the clay body. During the high-temperature firing, wood oils drop onto the teapot and crystallize with the Zisha clay—a breathtaking natural phenomenon known as "Luo You" (falling glaze). This creates a rich, smooth, and multi-layered natural ash glaze with stunning color variations and distinct marks left by the fire. Because the process is completely natural and unpredictable, every single teapot is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Recommended Users:
Highly recommended for tea enthusiasts, collectors, and those who deeply appreciate the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, raw natural textures, and unrepeatable artisanal teaware.
