The Name: "Fang Gu" (Resembling Antiquity)
The "Fang Gu" is one of the most classic and revered shapes in Yixing pottery history. Originally inspired by the shape of a traditional Chinese drum (Gu), it implies the gathering of energy and spirit. The name translates to "Emulating Ancient Style," representing a respect for tradition and a desire to capture the perfect, harmonious proportions of the past.
Design, Material & Recommendation
This 201ml teapot features a bold, full body with a wide lid and a smooth transition from the neck to the shoulders, offering a sense of dignity and stability. The "Di Cao Qing" clay is a premium variety of purple mud (Zini) found at the bottom of the ore layers; it is highly prized for its fine grain and excellent breathability. Over time, this clay will develop a beautiful, antique patina.
The "Da Hong Pao" in the name refers to the rich, reddish-purple tone of the fired clay, which is visually striking. With a medium capacity of 201ml and a wide opening, this pot is exceptionally practical and easy to clean. It is highly recommended for brewing Puerh (both raw and ripe) and roasted Oolong teas.
