The Name: "Ying Piao" (Shadow Scoop)

The name "Ying Piao" is a poetic nod to the design engraved on the body. "Piao" refers to the classic "Shi Piao" shape, one of the most enduring styles in Yixing history, known for its stability and triangular geometry. "Ying" means "Shadow." The body features an engraving of bamboo and the characters "Zhu Ying" (Bamboo Shadow), evoking the ancient Chinese poem: “The bamboo shadow sweeps the stairs, yet the dust does not move.” It represents a state of tranquility and Zen.

Design & Craftsmanship

This 150ml teapot is crafted from Di Cao Qing (Bottom Groove Qing), a premier variety of Zini (Purple Mud) located at the bottom of the ore stratum. This clay is highly prized by collectors for its fine texture and its ability to develop a rich, lustrous patina quickly with use.
