Product Story & Description
The Name: "Li Xing" (The Pear)
The "Li Xing" or Pear-shaped teapot is one of the most enduring and beloved forms in the history of Yixing pottery, dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Its design is inspired by the natural geometry of a pear, featuring a tapered neck that flows seamlessly into a full, rounded abdomen. This shape is celebrated for its elegance, grace, and the feeling of "fullness" it represents.
Design & Craftsmanship
This 130ml teapot is fully handmade using "Di Cao Qing," a premium variety of original ore Purple Mud (Zini) found deep within the mines of Huanglong Mountain. This clay is highly prized by collectors for its fine, dense texture and its ability to turn a rich, reddish-purple hue after firing.
The design follows the traditional "Meng Chen" style aesthetics: a slender top that widens at the bottom, offering stability and a generous space for tea leaves to unfurl. The spout is gently curved for a smooth water flow, and the ear-shaped handle offers a delicate yet secure grip. The craftsmanship highlights the "plain" beauty of the clay, devoid of carving, allowing the natural luster and the elegant silhouette to speak for itself.
Recommendation
With a capacity of 130ml, this teapot is the "Golden Size" for solo Gongfu tea sessions or for serving two people. The Di Cao Qing clay is excellent at retaining heat and softening the water texture, making this pot a perfect match for Oolong tea (especially Tieguanyin or Wuyi Rock Tea) and Aged Pu-erh.
