The name: "Song Jun Ti Liang"
The name draws inspiration from two of the "Three Friends of Winter" in Chinese culture: the Pine (Song) and the Bamboo (Jun). "Song" symbolizes longevity and resilience, while "Jun" represents flexibility and integrity. The "Ti Liang" refers to the elegant overhead handle design. Together, the name evokes a sense of enduring elegance and natural beauty, suggesting that this teapot is not just a vessel, but a tribute to the steadfast spirit of nature.
Design & Craftsmanship
This teapot is fully handmade using Original Ore Duanni clay and finished with the traditional Wood Firing (Chai Shao) technique. A standout feature is the delicate pine needle motif adorning the body, which perfectly echoes the "Pine" in its name and adds a poetic touch to the rustic aesthetic. The wood-firing process creates unique flame marks and ash glazes on the surface, interacting with the golden-hued Duanni clay to make each piece one-of-a-kind. The overhead handle (Ti Liang) adds elegance and stability, while its bamboo texture provides a unique tactile experience.
Recommendation
With a petite capacity of 99ml, this teapot is perfect for solo Gongfu tea sessions. The Duanni clay is highly breathable and tends to round out flavors, making it an excellent choice for light-roasted Oolongs, Green teas, or young Raw Pu-erh. It suits tea enthusiasts who appreciate the wabi-sabi aesthetic of wood-fired pottery and the ritual of small-pot brewing.
