Product Story & Description

The Name: "Wen Dan" (Pomelo)

The name "Wen Dan" refers to a specific type of sweet pomelo fruit. In Chinese tea culture, the Wendan teapot is celebrated for its full, rounded bottom and graceful, tapering curves. Historically, it has been poetically compared to the gentle and elegant figure of a classical beauty. It symbolizes natural grace, completeness, and harmonious beauty.

Design & Craftsmanship

The Wendan is one of the most classic and beloved Yixing teapot shapes. The body is bottom-heavy, providing a stable and visually comforting presence, while smoothly tapering towards a delicate, bead-like lid knob. It features a short spout for a crisp, powerful pour, and a classic inverted ear-shaped handle that perfectly balances the pot.

Zhu Ni (along with the broader Hong Ni family) is known for its delicate texture and striking appearance. After firing, it features a beautiful color that ranges from bright orange to deep red. When showered with hot water, the clay beautifully comes alive, quickly flushing to a vibrant, bright red that sometimes exhibits a subtle, wandering purple glow.

Zhu Ni is characterized by its high density and low porosity. Because of this dense structure, the clay does not absorb the tea's fragrance. Instead, it acts to lock in and retain the delicate aromas of the tea leaves.

Recommended Users

Perfect for tea lovers and collectors who appreciate timeless, classic Yixing designs and the vibrant beauty of Zhuni clay. Due to its exceptional ability to preserve fragrance, Zhu Ni is perfectly suited for highly aromatic teas. The article highly recommends pairing Zhu Ni teapots with: Light Oolongs (such as Tieguanyin and Dancong).
