Product Story & Description
The Name: "Yun Long Han Wa"
"Han Wa" refers to the roof tiles of the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD), whose round end-caps were stamped with auspicious words and images and are still treasured by collectors today. Teapots in the Han Wa family echo that sense of ancient, unhurried dignity. "Yun Long," cloud and dragon, adds one of China's oldest wishes for prosperity: the dragon rising through the clouds, bringing timely rain and good fortune. The name joins a scholar's love of antiquity with a heartfelt blessing.
Design & Craftsmanship
The full, rounded body swells generously from a narrow shoulder, topped with a stepped, domed lid and a round ball knob. A smooth loop handle and a short, gently curved spout keep the silhouette soft and balanced, and the pot sits comfortably in the hand. One side is incised with flowering plum branches and a small bird perched among the blossoms, finished with the maker's inscription and seal.
The Clay: Zini
Crafted from premium Zini (Purple Clay)—the most classic and revered of all authentic Yixing clays—this teapot features a rich, earthy purplish-brown hue. Renowned for its excellent breathability and unique dual-porosity structure, Zini is exceptionally versatile, gently rounding out astringency and elevating the complex flavors of roasted oolongs, pu-erh, and black teas. With regular use, the naturally textured surface will gradually absorb the tea's essential oils, developing a deep, mellow, and beautifully warm patina over time.
